Film office has great expectations to put Vizcaya in movie
Vizcaya or no Vizcaya? That is the question for 20th Century Fox, which wants to film a remake of Charles Dickens' 1861 classic Great Expectations partially at the estate in late June.

Theater community ready to `break a leg' Miami to host national critics' annual convention
Ninety theater critics from around the country will descend on Miami Beach's Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel Tuesday through Sunday for the 20th annual American Theatre Critics Association convention. On the agenda:

JOAN MARCUS MADE THE COVER OF NEWSWEEK: Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega star in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Off-Broadway drama Rent. ----JUMP SPEX ABOVE---- IN DEMAND: Among the plays fueling Broadway's successful season are the smash hit musical Rent (top) and Big (left), based on the popular film, and the revival of The King and I.

Meg Meurer, director of marketing for the League of American Theatres and Producers, says that even though the primary reason tourists visit New York is to go to theater, many get discouraged by the ``hassle factor.'' Where do you go? What do you see? How do you get tickets?
Once in New York, you can try the TKTS booth at Times Square for half-price tickets (plus a service fee) sold the day you want to see a show, knowing the hottest tickets (like those to Rent) won't be among your choices. But there are things you can do before you leave for New York to reduce the hassle factor to zero.
