MEG MEURER, DIRECTOR OF MARKETING FOR THE LEAGUE OF AMERICAN THEATRES AND PRODUCERS, SAYS THAT EVEN THOUGH THE PRIMARY REASON TOURISTS VISIT NEW YORK IS TO GO TO THEATER, MANY GET DISCOURAGED BY THE ``HASSLE FACTOR.'' WHERE DO YOU GO? WHAT DO YOU SEE? HOW DO YOU GET TICKETS?

Once in New York, you can try the TKTS booth at Times Square for half-price tickets (plus a service fee) sold the day you want to see a show, knowing the hottest tickets (like those to Rent) won't be among your choices. But there are things you can do before you leave for New York to reduce the hassle factor to zero.

For the Web-savvy, you can get information on any Broadway show -- and order tickets -- by contacting Theatre Direct International at http://www.travelfile.com/get?tdi. Or call TDI at (800) 334-8457. Another way to Web-access Broadway information is via something called Jam! Theatre at http://www.canoe.ca/
Theatre/. Descriptions of Broadway shows, theater locations and information on tickets is available through a League-sponsored Broadway Show Line at (800) 525-2929.
