Man chased and cut up by robber

A man was assaulted at 10:15 p.m. April 28 while he was unloading items from his car in the 300 block of Northwest Second Avenue in Miami. The victim said another man approached him and chased him. When the suspect finally caught up to the victim, he grabbed him by the neck, stabbed him on his right hand with a knife and stole the victim's empty $20 wallet. Then, the suspect ran away. The victim suffered a small cut on his hand and on his ear.


AVENTURA

POLICE ARRESTED TWO WOMEN, Elaine Marie Diaz, 29, and Deborah Ann Mszyco, 34, for shoplifting $795.89 worth of clothing from Sears retail store in Aventura Mall, 19505 Biscayne Blvd., at 4:30 Tuesday.


BISCAYNE PARK

BURGLARS BROKE INTO the Church of the Resurrection, 11173 Griffin Blvd., between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. May 1. When police arrived, the office door was pried open. The church's computer system and other office supplies were stolen.


MIAMI

BOAT EQUIPMENT valued at more than $2,500 was stolen from a boat docked at 7231 Belle Meade Blvd. sometime before 9 a.m. April 23. The stolen items include a water pump, penn rods, a fishing box and a starter. The owner told police he had locked and secured his boat.

A WOMAN REPORTED $140 was stolen from her home in the First block of Northeast 71st Street sometime before 1 p.m. April 11.


MIAMI SHORES

ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY $20 bills were stolen between 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 200 block of Northwest 103rd Street. Also missing were a VCR and stereo equipment valued at $3,000.


NORTH MIAMI

A GUNMAN came up behind a man at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Northwest 123rd Street and demanded his property. The robber got away with $50, plus items valued at $750, including a gold bracelet and wedding band and a watch.

Two and a half hours later, two men were talking outside a house in the 1200 block of Northwest 127th Street when two men approached with a gun and ordered them to the ground. The robbers took $215 and a beeper, a gold wedding band and a watch, then ran off.

A COMPUTER and fax machine were stolen from the office of Bay View Towers, 2150 Sans Souci Blvd., between 11 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. The office door had been pried open.

A RESIDENT was awakened at about 3 a.m. Saturday but didn't get up until about 7. That's when he discovered that someone had removed several jalousie panes from a window of his home in the 2200 block of Northeast 122nd Street. The would-be burglars didn't get in.


NORTH MIAMI BEACH

A THIEF broke into a locker at a Bally Total Fitness gym at 16720 NE Sixth Ave. sometime between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Friday. The thief took a $120 watch, $500 ring, a $10 pocket knife and $1,020.

THREE EMPLOYEES who had access to a locked drop box are suspected of taking about $900 from a box at Eckerd's Drugs, 1825 NE 185th St. sometime between 4:30 and 11 p.m. Thursday.

SOMEONE BROKE the kitchen window of a home in the 200 block of Northeast 173rd Street sometime between 4 to 4:45 p.m. Sunday. The thief took two recorders worth $340, a $420 beeper and $300.


UNINCORPORATED DADE NEAR MIAMI SHORES

A MAN WEARING a white T-shirt and green shorts hit the same 7-Eleven Food Store at 533 NW 103rd St. three times within an eight-hour span. The first incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and the other two at 3:14 and 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. The man walked into the store, pulled a black plastic bag from under his shirt and took close to $500 in over-the-counter drugs, including Tylenol, Nyquil, Advil and Alka Seltzer.

SOMEONE ENTERED a 1983 Chevrolet that was parked at the 400 block of Northwest 108th Terrace at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. The thief took a $1,500 radio and speakers.

A BURGLAR TOOK a $1,300 compressor and $50 worth of copper wire from Miami Shores Shell station at 575 NW 103rd St. sometime between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday.


UNINCORPORATED DADE NEAR NORTH MIAMI BEACH

SOMEONE TOOK a $250 hedger, $350 blower and a $30 car jack from the bed of a 1985 Ford pickup truck that was parked at Lithgow Funeral Chapels, 15011 W. Dixie Hwy, sometime between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.


SUNNY ISLES

SOMEONE TOOK a $40 backpack from the lobby of the Sea Breeze Hotel lobby, 16151 Collins Ave., at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday. The thief also stole two German passports worth $150.

SOMEONE TOOK a boat trailer worth $12,000 from an open field near the marina at 400 Sunny Isles Blvd. sometime between noon Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.


BAL HARBOUR

A HUFFY BICYCLE valued at $160 was stolen from the Sheraton Bal Harbour Resort, 9701 Collins Ave., between 10 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. April 27. The bike belonged to an employee. When she got off work, she discovered the bike, which had been in the rack but not locked, was missing.


NORTH BAY VILLAGE

A STEERING WHEEL LOCK did not prevent thieves from stealing a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo out of the parking lot at 8000 West Drive overnight April 29.


SURFSIDE

BURGLARS TRIED TO force open the front double doors on a house in the 9100 block of Byron Avenue shortly before 4:45 April 29. The deadlift bolt prevented the burglars from getting in.

A HOT PINK BICYCLE was stolen from the municipal parking lot at 9572 Bay Dr. between 5:30 and 10 p.m. April 30. The bike, which was valued at $140, had been left unlocked in the lot.


MIAMI BEACH

WHILE SITTING in a car parked in the lot at 21st Street and Collins Avenue, a woman was talking to an acquaintance when a man reached through the driver's side window and forcibly grabbed her purse around 4:20 a.m. Monday. As the thief ran away, the acquaintance jumped out of the woman's car and got into a Ford Explorer with the robber. The men got away with the designer purse, which was valued at $100 and contained $130 in cash.

TWO ROBBERS attacked a couple walking down the 500 Block of Ocean Drive around 2:45 a.m. Monday. The robbers hit the couple before pulling a watch from the man and snatching the woman's purse. The attackers then jumped into a waiting car and sped away with the couple's property. The purse contained about $50, and the watch was valued at $1,800.

A MAN'S WALLET and keys were stolen when a robber attacked him near Sixth Street and Michigan Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday. When the robber demanded money, the man said he didn't have any. The robber then pushed the man down, unzipping the man's pants, and grabbed his keys and wallet containing $20. Waiving the keys around, the robber demanded more money. When the man said he didn't have anymore, the robber threw the keys into the bushes and ran away. The man followed the robber in an effort to get his keys back, but was unsuccessful.

SOMEONE THREW a brick at a 1994 Lincoln Towncar as it was being driven near 87th Street and Collins Avenue at 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The brick damaged the car's front lights.

A WOMAN'S PURSE was stolen after it was placed on a shelf inside St. Patrick's Church, 3716 Garden Ave., around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The woman set it down for a moment to pick up some ornaments on the shelf. When she turned back around, the purse was gone.

TWO CLAY POTS were stolen out of the front yard of a house in the 4100 block of Alton Road overnight Saturday.

THE CONVERTIBLE TOP on a 1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet was cut and the black door strip was stolen while the car was parked in the 1900 block of North Michigan Avenue overnight Sunday.

MIRRORS HUNG in the hallway of the Essex Hotel, 1001 Collins Ave., were stolen between 9 and 10 p.m. Monday. A man was seen putting the mirrors into a cab. The mirrors were valued at $800.

A PURSE SNATCHER nearly got away with a woman's handbag when he picked it up from the sand in the 800 block of the beach around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. A companion and another man chased the robber, who stopped and began fighting with the men. Police saw the fight and arrested Carlos A. Munguia, 33, of Miami, who was charged with armed robbery.
