Bethel Baptist in Richmond Heights will host Church Ministry Summit

Bishop Noel Jones of Greater Bethany Community Church in Los Angeles, and Don Meares, Ph.D., will lead a Church Ministry Summit from May 17-19 at the Bethel Baptist Church, 14440 Lincoln Blvd., Richmond Heights.

Jones wrote his first book, Church development, after completing a Bachelor of Theology degree at Aenon Bible College. He currently teaches Bible classes that are broadcast throughout the Los Angeles community. He will speak at 7:30 p.m. May 17.

Meares, senior pastor of Evangel Church in Washington, D.C., wrote Corporate Destiny in the Local Church. He is host of the National Pastor's Conference each March in his home. He will conduct a workshop on Local Church Leadership and Unity in the Body of Christ at 10 a.m. May 18. Services May 19 will be at 7:30 and 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The New Birth Recording Mass Choir will be the special musical guest at the Sunday workshop. A $10 registration fee is required. Call 235-7423.

Central Agency for Jewish Education: The monthly Lunch and Learn Torah study class will be at noon May 17 on the 30th floor of Broad and Casell, 201 S. Biscayne Blvd. Executive Vice President of CAJE, Gene Greenzweig, will lead the 90-minute program. A kosher lunch may be ordered for $10. The group is studying Genesis. Beginners welcome. Chabad Center of Kendall: Basic Concepts in Jewish Philosophy and Mysticism: A Study in Tanya will be taught from 8 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the center, 10511 SW 109th Ct. A weekly Torah class that explores the Torah and its applications to contemporary life will run from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. Call 270-9400.

Coral Gables Congregational Church: French pianist Francois Chaplin will play the music of Chopin and Debussy at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church, 3010 de Soto Blvd. Chaplin, winner of many international piano competitions, has performed with orchestras throughout Europe. The event is sponsored by Alliance Francaise and the Malcolm Wiseheart Foundation. Tickets are $18 for general admission; $15 for Alliance Francaise members and $7 for students. Call 859-8760.

Faith United Methodist Church: The first Coffee House Evening with a potluck dinner will be at 7 p.m. June 1 at the church, 12601 SW 72nd St. Call 596-4498.

Hadassah/Menorah: The Menorah Chapter of Hadassah will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Dadeland Marriott, 9090 S. Dadeland Blvd. New officers are Doris Gold, president; Bess Applebaum, fund-raising vice president; Eve Zinner and Selma Mirman, education vice presidents; Anne Soule, membership vice president; Rose Feldman, program vice president; Mildred Schampan, treasurer and financial secretary; Laura Glance, recording secretary and Zara Hamburger, corresponding secretary.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church: There will be a Youth Tribute entitled ``All Eyes on God'' at 10:45 a.m. May 19 at the church, 301 NW Ninth St. Called 379-4147.

Open Bible Temple: The Original Christian Skating Night will be at 8 p.m. Thursdays at Hot Wheels Skating Center, 12265 SW 112th St. Call 264-5454.

Riviera Presbyterian Church: The Adult Choir of Riviera will sing with the R'nanim Singers of Temple Beth Shalom at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the temple, 4144 Chase Ave., Miami Beach, and 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 5275 Sunset Dr. Call 538-7231. St. Thomas By-The-Bay Lutheran Church: A preview for an auction will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, 17700 Old Cutler Rd. Joel Langbaum will conduct the auction. Temple Beth Am: The board of directors for the temple, 5950 N. Kendall Dr., approved a new category of membership that will allow younger people to join the congregation without paying normal membership fees. The program enables those 21 to 28 to join without paying dues or a building fee. People 29 and 30 will be charged half the normal membership rates. When a member reaches 31, regular dues and building fund rates will apply. If a young couple have children who attend Beth Am's Day School, the regular dues policy applies. Call 667-6667.

Temple Shir Ami: The annual May Madness Auction and Gourmet Adventure will begin at 6:30 p.m. May 18 at the temple, 7205 SW 125th Ave. The event features with dinner, a silent auction and finally a live auction which begins at 8:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned include: electronic equipment, jewelry, restaurant dinners, art, travel, airline tickets, weekends, sports collectibles and more. Admission is $30 per person if purchased before Saturday and $35 at the door. Call 279-7311.
