Police nab 3 for assault, carjacking

Three men were arrested April 30 and charged with committing an armed carjacking and aggravated assault at the Florida City Super 8 Motel, 1202 N. Krome Ave., at 11:32 p.m. April 28.

According to police, the three men, Cedric Lester, 20, of 942 NW Third St., and two juveniles were riding in an older model pickup when they noticed a woman sitting in a car. Two of the suspects got out of the truck, ran to the victim's car, pointed firearms toward the woman's face and ordered her to get out.

The car was quickly stripped of its $3,000 stereo equipment, steering wheel, motor, transmission, tires and rims, rim caps and front caps with headlights. The vehicle was then towed and later burned.

It was recovered by Metro-Dade Police on April 29 in the 300 block of Southwest 192nd Avenue. An investigation uncovered much of the vehicle's equipment at Lester's house along with receipts with the name of the car's owner. Police also found the wallet belonging to the victim of another robbery that occurred on April 28.


COLONIAL DRIVE AREA

SOMEONE SMASHED the window of a car parked at a home on the 10800 block of Southwest 165th Street at about 3:40 a.m., but stole nothing.


CUTLER RIDGE

TWO MEN ARGUED with a jewelry salesman Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. in the McDonald's parking lot, 10851 Caribbean Blvd, about jewelry he had sold to a woman. When one punched the salesman in the head and tried to take his black fanny pouch that was filled with jewelry, the salesman pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the stomach. Police arrested James Henry Hall, 24, 410 NW 35th St., and charged him with strong-arm robbery and took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police also arrested Ulysses Euline, 22, 28307 SW 141st Pl., and charged him with strong-arm robbery.


FLORIDA CITY

SOMEONE SHOT AT THE store front window of Farah Factory Store, 250 E. Palm Dr., No. 410, between 9:30 p.m. April 30 and 9 a.m. May 1, causing $300 in damage. A BB gun was found on the store front sidewalk.

SOMEONE BROKE INTO Mobil Mart, 1454 NE First Ave., between 10:30 p.m. May 2 and 9 a.m. May 3. The burglar caused about $2,800 in damage.

A THIEF BROKE INTO a car parked in the 1400 block of North Krome Avenue between 6 p.m. May 2 and 8:15 a.m. May 3 and stole two batteries valued at $120.

A THIEF REMOVED A $500 air conditioning condenser from Mobile Mart, 1454 NE First Ave., between 10:30 p.m. May 3 and 5 a.m. May 4.

A CONTRACTOR who was paid $45,000 to repair a house in the 700 block of Northwest Seventh Court in 1993 left after doing only $6,000 worth of work. The incident was reported May 3.

EIGHT PEOPLE WERE robbed at gunpoint in a room at the Tropical Inn Motel, 905 W. Palm Dr., between noon and 11:30 p.m. May 3. Two suspects knocked on the door, saying they were the police. After they were allowed in, the two men, armed with handguns, handcuffed the victims and took $2,159 in cash and checks.

A THIEF BROKE into a vehicle parked at the Florida City Barber Shop, 536 W. Palm Dr., between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. May 1 by breaking the passenger side vent window. The thief stole $270 and caused $100 in damage to the window.

A MAN AND A WOMAN were arguing at an apartment in the 500 block of West Palm Drive at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday when the woman took a blunt object and broke a glass-top dining table. The woman left, but returned later. The man confronted her, and she broke the east living room window with a blunt object. Damage was estimated at $246.

A MAN ATTACKED another man on the roadside in the 500 block of Northwest 16 Street at 12:34 a.m. May 4. After a struggle, the robber stuck the victim across the left upper eye and stole $300 in cash. The victim was treated on the scene.


GOULDS

BURGLARS PRIED open the rear sliding glass door of a home on the 20800 block of Southwest 103rd Court between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday and stole jewelry worth $6,000, $500 cash and electrical appliances.
BURGLARS BROKE into a home on the 10300 block of Southwest 212th Street between 8:30 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, and stole $300 cash.


PRINCETON

FOUR ROBBERS DROVE up to a man when he pulled over at Southwest 117th Avenue and 240th Street to check a tire of his 1992 Acura Legend at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday.

``Need any help?'' they asked, and pointed guns at him. They got out of a tan Toyota Corolla and grabbed him, took his Rolex watch, portable phone, and wallet containing $300 cash, and threw him on the ground. They then got into both cars and drove away.
