4 Southridge finalists win scholarshipThese students from Southridge High were named finalists in the Ford Salute to Education Scholarships competition and will receive $5,000 each: Julie Jones, in Leadership/Service; Faride Jamid, Performing Arts; Julia Lamont, Visual Arts; Sarah Balaguer, Vocational/Technical.
First-place winner Travis Smith, Mathematics/Computer Science, will receive $1,200; and second-place winners Anthony Arguez, Natural Science; and Tamar Conyers, Social Science; will each get $1,000. The awards banquet will be Wednesday at the Radisson Center.

These students from Leisure City Elementary placed in the 1996 Young Authors' Fair: Jose Rodriguez, first place primary grades; Salvador Perez, second place primary grades; Sean Barnes, third place primary grades; Arlett Fernandez, first place intermediate grades; Maria Morales, second place intermediate grades; Veronica Alvarado, third place intermediate grades. Kruse honor roll
These students from Ruth Owens Kruse Educational Center made the principal's honor roll for the third nine weeks: Roland Daiber, Jonathan Gonzalez, Holly Micelli, Delfi Sosa and Emmanuele Taylor.
These students from Coral Gables High attended the Future Business Leaders of America Florida State Leadership Conference April 21-24 in Haines City: Luke Dixon, first place Business Mathematics; Alfredo Delgado, first place Computer Concepts; Juan Ramirez, second place Computer Concepts; Deborah Egurrola, third place Economics. Dixon, Delgado and Ramirez will represent Florida in their respective divisions at the National Leadership Conference July 8-11 in Washington, D.C. The Coral Gables Chapter also received the Gold Seal Chapter Award, the State Project Award and the March of Dimes Project Award. International Student Exchange: ASSE International Student Exchange is seeking local host families for 15- to 18-year-old students from various countries. Each student is fully insured and brings their own spending money. Families may select their exchange student from applications including biographical essays, photos and transcripts. The JROTC is sponsoring the Third ``All Dade County JROTC Drill Meet'' at 8 a.m. Saturday. An awards ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. There will be a chess tournament at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Palmetto Feeder Pattern: There will be a meeting at 7:20 p.m. Tuesdayin the media center at Palmetto Middle, 7351 SW 128th St. Feeder Pattern principals will be guest speakers and officers for 1996-97 will be elected. Edward Whigham Elementary: This new school opens in September. There will be a meeting for parents of students who will attend Whigham at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Gulfstream Elementary cafeteria, 20900 SW 97th St. Other parents who live within the new school's boundaries also are invited.
