Man still critical after shooting at target range

A 74-year-old man remained in critical condition Saturday after shooting himself in the head in an apparent suicide attempt at a Pembroke Park gun range a day earlier, investigators said.

Melvin Kahn of Hallandale was at the American Indoor Gun Range, 3130 SW 19th St., at about 6:35 p.m. Friday when he shot himself.

Witnesses told police that Kahn fired several shots at the target. A short while later, someone saw him on the floor and noticed that his head was bleeding.

Kahn was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where he was placed on life support.
